Sensitive Situations: Allergies & Intimacy with Dr. Stoehr | Episode 233
In this episode of The Swing Nation Podcast, the top-rated podcast about non-monogamy and swinging, Dan and Lacy sit down with Dr. Stoehr, a gynecologist specializing in pelvic and sexual pain and sexual dysfunction. With a strong interest in the intersection of medicine and alternative sexual lifestyle communities, she brings both professional expertise and an open-minded perspective to the conversation.
Together, they dive into common — and not so common — allergies people can experience during sex. From well-known sensitivities to condoms and lubricants to lesser-discussed reactions like semen allergies, they break down what these reactions can look like, how to recognize them, and what steps people can take if they suspect something isn’t right.
They also touch on vaginal dryness — why it happens more often than people think, and simple ways to address it. Dr. Stoehr offers practical guidance on when something is normal, when to make adjustments, and when it might be worth having a conversation with a medical professional.
Whether you’re active in the lifestyle or just want better information about sexual health, this episode is packed with expert insight, myth-busting clarity, and empowering education to help you feel more confident and comfortable in your experiences. Don’t miss this honest and informative discussion that bridges sexual health and non-monogamy.

SPEAKER_04You almost did Tuesday talks, didn't you?
SPEAKER_00No, I didn't. Oh, in our new studio.
SPEAKER_04Yeah. Same studio, like some renovations with our new chairs, got some new pillows, some new books, stuff like that. So right.
SPEAKER_00And who better to have as a guest on our new setup than the one and only Doctor Store?
SPEAKER_05Hi guys. Hello.
SPEAKER_00We were just talking to her before we hit record, and we're like, okay, we don't really know what we're doing with all this equipment yet. We haven't recorded with this yet. So it may or may not work. We're gonna find figure it out.
SPEAKER_04And we literally just got home from LA like less than 24 hours ago. So we are like we came in and set all this up today. So it'll take us a few days to kind of work out all the kings for sure.
SPEAKER_00For sure.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I totally get it. I've I had a long weekend too. I just opened up a play this weekend.
SPEAKER_04So that's very exciting.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_04Are you like in the play?
SPEAKER_01Yes. I play I play a diva. Surprise, surprise.
SPEAKER_04I love that. How in the world do you have time to be in a play when you're a doctor in the lifestyle, a mother? Uh there's no telling what all you've got going on. I can't imagine how Yeah, I don't know how I have time either, but I I do it because it's good for my mental health. I love that. Yeah. I love that. That's awesome.
SPEAKER_00Sorry. Okay. So today's episode, we uh, you know, Dr. Store, this is how we we prep our episode. She sends me a text and she's like, What would you like to talk about today? And I'm like, I don't know, Dr. Store. What would you like to talk about today? So we kicked around a few ideas and kind of came back on allergies in the lifestyle as something to talk about. Uh, and I actually I think it's a good subject because I don't know if it's something we've ever really had conversations about.
SPEAKER_04Some, but I'm I'm interested in getting a deep dive because I'm not somebody that struggles with allergies, so I've never really had to deal with it. But just recently, I think it was at New Year's, uh, we were talking to one of our friends, and in an orgy setting, somebody used a non-latex-free condom, and she was dying basically. I mean, her her pussy was like on fire from an allergy, and I guess I never realized quite how serious that was, and so it kind of opened my eyes. So I'm interested in having a conversation because I do think there is a lot of us that never have had to deal with it. And if you have it, there's really no way for you to kind of understand it.
SPEAKER_00No, I no, I agree. Yeah, and it's honestly until joining the lifestyle, I think I was a little oblivious to how many people seem to experience that. But it it seems like in the at least in the lifestyle, there's a lot of women that um prefer not to use latex-based condoms um because of the irritations and things that it can cause. So it was pretty interesting to me to see that in the lifestyle space. So I think there probably is lots of other people that don't realize that that's a thing.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, latex condom allergies, latex allergies, just period, are super common. So it's not unexpected to find a condom allergies being pretty common in lifestyle as well.
SPEAKER_04So how do I guess that's my how do you figure out you have a latex allergy? I'm assuming you just start using condoms and then you're like something is not okay, is is or is there a way to test for it? Like, I guess that's my question. How do people find out about it?
SPEAKER_02Well, one of the little known facts about specifically latex allergies, is it's not like a bee-sting allergy or like peanut allergy where your first exposure, you have a reaction. Most people with latex allergies, they develop over time. So yeah, so it's one of those things where you may have used latex condoms off and on throughout your entire life, and all of a sudden, boom, you start reacting to it. And you're like, what the heck? What's going on? Which is one of the reasons that a lot of people don't realize what it is until they go to the doctor. And then we kind of, you know, peruse a little bit. We're like, okay, what's happened the last couple of times? And usually if they say, well, you know, my vagina starts burning after sex, you're like, okay, what kind of condoms were you using? Were you using condoms? Or is this something allergic to something else? So yeah, latex is actually something that's um fairly common to be allergic to, especially in the medical field. Um, a lot of surgeons and people that work in the medical field because they're exposed to latex all the time with the latex gloves and um some of the equipment we use and whatnot, we tend to develop the allergy over time. So yeah, it's not one of those things that like the first time you ever use a latex condom, you react to it very often. I mean, can that happen? Yes, but that's not the common way this happens. Usually you've used latex condoms before and you over time develop an allergy to the latex.
SPEAKER_00So I guess what are the initial? So if somebody's what I guess what are those symptoms? What is something to watch out for?
SPEAKER_02Psycho after you guys it varies. Most people with a uh latex allergy, it's gonna present kind of like uh poison ivy. So it burning, itching, intense discomfort. Um, it usually burning is the sensation that people describe it as most, but like a lot of people will get sort of like an oozing or a weeping from it. So they'll be like, I haven't just like a ton of discharge and everything's red down there, and it's just frickin' on fire. So it feels like kind of like a really bad yeast infection, times like that.
SPEAKER_04Is there any rash associated with it?
SPEAKER_02There can be. So it depends on the person themselves. If the condom was only ever touching the inside of the vagina, you may not notice that much redness other than maybe just at the entryway. But you know, if like I put the condom on and was, you know, smacking around on your clit ahead of time, there could be a rash all over your vulva. Or if she handled the latex condom with her hands to put it on him, she may notice a rash on her hands too. And also giving oral to somebody who's wearing a latex condom, if you've got an allergy, you'll get a rash around your mouth as well.
SPEAKER_00I guess that was my question. So if if you so if you have a latex allergy, it's not just your vagina, it's your entire body that's allergic to it. Yeah, it's systemic reaction.
SPEAKER_04Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Is your vagina more sensitive though? It is.
SPEAKER_04Well, the vagina is since I mean, think about like a vagina compared to anything else. I mean, it's probably one of the more sensitive parts on a woman's body. It has to be.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, it the it's partially because it's a mucous membrane that it tends to react more violently. Um, a lot of a lot of allergic reactions. So if you think about it like a peanut allergy, people will break out into a rash, but they'll say their mouth just like goes on fire and they break out into rash inside the mouth. Um, so uh it's partially because the vagina is a mucous membrane, just like the inside of the mouth is, it tends to react more violently just because of the amount of immune system response that happens in those areas. So, yeah, the vagina is a little bit more sensitive and will react a little bit more violently to that type of uh an insult.
SPEAKER_04So if someone thinks they have a latex allergy, what do you suggest? Do they go to their doctor? Is there a way for the doctor to confirm it other than just looking at it? Is there like a blood? Like how where do you go from there if you feel like you are experiencing some of these symptoms?
SPEAKER_02So honestly, most of the time, latex allergies are really just based on exposure. So it's not like um an allergy to penicillin that can be tested for. We can't just like test blood for it or do like a spot test. You can do exposure testing for allergies like latex, but we don't commonly do that. Um, mainly because you can have a pretty violent reaction to it. And, you know, just exposing you to latex and seeing what you do to it is not necessarily a great idea. And also, some people react much more violently inside the vagina than on their skin. So they'll be like, well, it itches a little bit after I touch it, but I don't get the rash on my hands, but my vagina, oh my God, it's just on fire. So a lot of it's really just based on the patient's history. If they're like, hey, you know what? I like my vagina hurts and I get burning and itching and discharge and everything. Every time I have sex and I ask, well, you know, do you use condoms? They're like, oh yeah. So what brand are you using? They're like, Well, I use, you know, X brand of latex condoms. And I'm like, ah, let's try using a non-latex condom and see if it happens again next time. Because it's hard for me to, unless I see them right after they've had sex with latex for me to confirm that that's what's causing it. Gotcha.
SPEAKER_00So I guess it's so listening to what you're saying, it it is plausible because what I'm thinking about is swingers, you know, maybe um this girl has, you know, did does not realize that she has a latex allergy. You know, maybe she uses gloves to clean and stuff occasionally. Like you're saying, maybe her hands are slightly irritated afterwards, but she doesn't really think nothing of it. Now she joins the lifestyle. Her and her husband haven't been using latex condoms for the last 20 years, but she joins the lifestyle, then starts having sex with people that are using latex condoms. If if she's then experiencing irritation from that sex, it it's it the latex condoms could be a reason that that is happening. Yeah, a reason, yeah.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, so I guess you almost have to do like a trial and error, like try non like latex-free condoms and stuff like that, just sort of see if you react, basically.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, because there's I mean, there's a lot of other things that you can potentially be sensitive to that go down by the vagina when you're having sex.
SPEAKER_04I mean, yeah, it could be the noob, yeah.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, and if you're really sensitive, if your partner, if you guys were at a party together, your partner used a latex condom on somebody else and then didn't wash their penis and had sex with you without a latex condom on, you could still have enough latex on your penis to cause a reaction. Then that gets really tough because a woman's like, well, no, we didn't use a condom. I don't know what happened.
SPEAKER_04Yeah. So that's a good point.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, it could be kind of difficult to sometimes parse it out. Um, and like I said, there's a lot of other stuff that goes down there that could potentially cause an allergic reaction.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. Okay. So if somebody experiences that irritation, is there a a way to treat that? Like, is there something like a can you take allergy medicine? Can you, is there some kind of lotion or some kind of something you can put on it?
SPEAKER_02Like there's a couple of different things that can be done. I mean, the the biggest recommendation is just avoid latex condoms. Um, you know, using a non-latex condom then would be preferable. And there are some people that are allergic to non-latex condoms as well. Um, you know, there's condoms that are made out of all sorts of other things. And even the non-latex ones, some people are sensitive to. It just kind of depends on your body. It's much less common to be sensitive to non-latex condoms, but it's always possible. So yeah, you honestly, if it's a really bad reaction, I put patients on a steroid taper. Like I'll give them a prednisone pack or pred pack. The same stuff you would take if you have a really bad sinus infection. Sometimes your doc will put you on a pred pack to get you over the symptoms. Same deal. Um, if there's a bad reaction, and I've had patients come in the day after having sex with a latex condom and they show up in my office and they're like, oh my God, something's wrong with my vagina. I take a look at it, I'm like, whoa, this looks like contact dermatitis, which is basically what an allergy looks like. Um, I'm like, okay, what's touched your vagina in the last 24 hours? And you know, they'll let me know. I'll actually put them on a taper. Um, you can use steroids in the vulva and vagina. We don't do it very often for that particular indication. Um, usually if we're using steroids in those locations, it's for something uh a little bit more intense, you know. But yeah, an absolute like a pread pack can be, can be used, but really just avoidance of the of the allergen.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, because I know we have a really good friend that has a latex allergy. And if like in group settings, like if we're having an orgy and she does a very good job, like she brings her own condoms, she communicates it. But I do get sometimes in like an orgy setting, a guy will forget or you know, with the best intentions, sometimes shit just happens and it will completely derail her entire weekend, like she is like on fire the night. So I guess for somebody that like that, could you almost do like have the treatment? Yeah, have the treatment so that way if something was like the like if you know you've been exposed, you can immediately start taking them to kind of because like I'm thinking, like, what if you're on like a blitz cruise or gone to HEDO or something? You know, especially if you spent like a lot of money and then night one, somebody accidentally, you know, or your husband forgets to wash or whatever. I mean, that could completely derail your entire vacation.
SPEAKER_02Oh, yeah, absolutely. Um, my patients that are in the lifestyle that have latex allergies, I mean and honestly, like anything else. Like if I've got a patient who's going on a bliss cruise, I prescribe them some yeast medication, I give them a prednisone, yeah, I give them doxycycline to prevent the STDs. I mean, you're going on a lifestyle cruise and you come to my office, you will get all of the things.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, which I mean, I do get that not people should feel because I know what people are gonna say, well, I don't feel comfortable telling my doctor that. But you should you, if you don't, you should find somebody that does or find a way to get the medicines so that way you can have them. Because I kind of do the same thing. I don't have a latex allergy, but I'm you know, I can get UTIs or um a yeast infection pretty easy. So I just travel with that medicine so that way the like the moment I feel a symptom, I don't, you know, I don't skip a beat. We are immediately treating it so that way I can still have fun and enjoy myself and not, you know, not get super sick.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. And that's the best way to do it. I mean, I always joke around that there's three people you shouldn't lie to, your therapist, your lawyer, and your doctor.
SPEAKER_04Yeah.
SPEAKER_02It's super important to be honest with those people about all of the things because it's the last thing you want to do is, you know, fuck those things up. Um, yeah, if you're if you're not comfortable talking with your doctor about the lifestyle, you should find a doctor that you are comfortable with. Yeah. Um, you know, there's a lot of us out there and talk to your friends, ask them like who do you see to tell them about the lifestyle? How do they react? You know.
SPEAKER_04Yeah. And to be honest with you, there's a lot of like like online medical places now that it doesn't have to be a doctor in your hometown. You know, you can do these like visits with like a telehealth. So it's not somebody you're gonna run into in the grocery store if you're worried about living in like a small town. So there's there's ways around. I mean, I do agree with you. You should 100% be comfortable telling your doctor, but realistically, I know I know what people are gonna say. Not everyone's going to. So there are ways around, even like shameless care. A lot of these like companies that we promote here on the podcast, they all have types of e-service that can help you with these things.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, absolutely. And I mean, honestly, sometimes if if you really are and you do live in a small town and you don't want to come out to your doctor, I get that. I I mean, sometimes you don't have access to care that's you know, as non-judgmental. You just don't.
SPEAKER_05Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Um, you know, you can always ask for a pre pack in advance and be like, look, I have an allergy to something else, you know, that I'm afraid I'm gonna get exposed to while I'm on a cruise ship. Like, hey, I don't do well when I have X, Y, or Z or when I get exposed to X, Y, or Z and I'm afraid I may bump into it on the cruise. Can I just, you know, can I get a steroid pack just in case? Yeah. And then have it on hand. You know, I encourage you to lie to your doctor about that kind of stuff, but you know, it's it may be worth having something on hand if you're like, hey, dude, I've, you know, I've got an allergy and I gotta take care of this. And like I said, it can be days worth of symptoms with a condom allergy. Latex specifically can cause days worth of symptoms, and it it's really unpleasant at baseline. And you don't, like you said, you don't want to waste an entire bliss cruise on a latex allergy.
SPEAKER_05I agree.
SPEAKER_00Okay, so uh you said uh so what are some other alternatives then to latex condom? I know you said latex free, and like we said, we do have a close friend that is very, very sensitive uh to latex, and and she even yeah, so there's latex. I don't even understand what's fully in a latex-free condom, but I know there's latex free condoms, and then there's like lambs lamb skin.
SPEAKER_04A lot of people use the skin brand as an alternative to like Trojan or Magnum or all those other things. So that seems to be like kind of the most used one, but I think that's lamb skin, isn't it?
SPEAKER_00I don't think skin's lamb skin, but I know they're all.
SPEAKER_02I'm actually looking it up right now because I'm not actually sure what's in it. I think it's a non-latex, um, yeah, polyisoprene is what's in it. Um, it's a synthetic polyisoprene, which is uh really low potential for allergy.
SPEAKER_05Okay.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, no animal is that no animal-based derivatives, vegan-friendly. Um the only other thing in it is some of them have aloe vera, and that's it. So it's kind of like silicone. Silicone's medically inert because it's too big of a compound to absorb, and so the chances of developing an allergy to it are exquisitely low. Um, so the the skin condoms, they're made out of something that is highly unlikely to cause an allergy. Could it still? Yes. I mean, almost anything can cause an allergy.
SPEAKER_00And that's she's so sensitive, she can't even, she doesn't even like the skin condom. She likes using lamb skin condoms because that's I guess it's more gentle on her body.
SPEAKER_04Friends that like their dicks are so big they can't use magnum and they have to order like special condoms from like overseas. I mean, there's no telling what's in a lot of these things. I mean, I think a lot of people use the traditional ones that you can get like at the grocery store or gas station and stuff, but there's definitely all types of condoms out there.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, there's some really interesting ones that can be ordered from from other countries. Um, yeah, I know there's one brand out of Australia that I've seen before. It looks like a plastic bag, it's just bizarre that it like performs to the to the penis. It's yeah, I'm gonna look it up really quick so find the name of it.
SPEAKER_04Well, while you're looking that up, I I guess my advice for somebody, obviously, I don't have an allergy, but if you are a female or even the husband of a female who has, I guess males could, I'm assuming males could also have this allergy. Um, you need to bring your own condoms. You don't need to rely on other people. And if you're especially in an orgy setting, you're just gonna have to pause in between new partners and make sure that they're using one of yours, would be my best advice as somebody that doesn't have an allergy, that it's just been in a lot of orgies. Yeah, exactly. Bring it with you, have multiple sizes, yeah.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, and the point you brought up that I something I never really thought about was the, you know, if somebody wears a latex condom, and I guess it would most likely be her husband or her partner, and then takes that off and then comes back and has sex with her, that that that is still potentially an exposure. Um, like you said, you know, taking time to rinse off in between, which is really what every guy should be doing anyway.
SPEAKER_04I love it when Dan rinses off. I actually do not like the way that skin condoms taste. Like if a guy, like if Dan's been fucking a girl and he takes the condom off, and then he comes to me to like, let's say he needs help getting hard, or we're just you know engaging. It tastes like it tastes weird. Like I don't know what it is about the skin one. So he always washes in between, and that's kind of something that we've probably started doing over the years, and I really think it's like a best practice.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, and it it is a good idea. Um honestly, I think condoms have a weird flavor too. I don't like any condom. I haven't, you know, ever found a condom that I couldn't taste on a penis afterwards, um, unless they put like, you know, either washed off or something like that. Um, but yeah, I don't like the taste of them either. They taste like, you know, plastic or yeah, yeah, rubber band tastes like a rubber band to me. Uh yeah.
SPEAKER_00And then there are all these like flavored condoms and stuff um that are meant for like oral sex. But again, now you're put those in your vagina. Holy hell, please. That's what I was just thinking. Is you know, I I think some of those are probably marketed to be used for both oral and intercourse sex, but that can't be there, can't there's got to be chemicals on there that are not going in your vagina.
SPEAKER_04Friend that her work changed the toilet paper, and the new toilet paper that they bought had like a lavender scent to it, and she was allergic to that what you know, whatever the lavender that was in the toilet paper. It took her forever to figure out what it was because she was like, I'm not, I'm not using anything, I've not changed anything. So, like any kind of smells, a sense, we're like strictly dial soap people on the vagina and the penis. Like that's kind of like our gold. Dal soap is what we stick to. And honestly, since I've we've switched to that, I've noticed a decrease in like any kind of like infection, BV, yeast, you name it, you know, we've noticed a decrease in it personally.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, definitely. I mean, I I don't recommend soap on the vulva or vagina at all. I don't use any type of soap on my vulva or vagina. Um, I have a microfiber washcloth that I use for my vulva, and that's it's the only place it goes, is just on the vulva. It you know, removes bacteria without adding any type of chemical from a soap, even. Um, a lot of people's soap is really difficult on the vulva and vagina, even the good stuff, you know. Yeah, um, dove is another one that's got like a highly um sensitive soap, and it most people do fine with it, but I I don't put soap anywhere near any of that. If a guy is rinsing off in between and they use soap on their penis, it's fine. Just make sure it's rinsed really well.
SPEAKER_04Good to know.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. Yeah, we keep that gold scent free uh soap. It goes with us to every party that we go to.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, it's a it's a good thing to like wash off in between. And I honestly I see that a lot of times with group sex that the guys are just going from woman to woman to woman and just stopping out condoms, which is Okay, but not preferable.
SPEAKER_04Yeah. And I mean, I do think that there are settings where it kind of has to be that way. Like if you're in a club and there's not a shower or a bathroom nearby. But so there there are times when that happens. But if you can get to a if you're in a hotel room and there's a shower, or like on Bliss Cruise in the um solarium, there's usually showers. You know, if you can get to one, I definitely recommend it.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, or even just to a sink where you can just like splash off with some water.
SPEAKER_04Yeah. And like promess it makes those like before and after wives. A lot of people bring wipes and stuff. So whatever you can do to kind of help with that, I think it's ideal.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. Even baby wipes. Baby wipes are pretty, you know, essentially.
SPEAKER_00We try to get the pH balanced ones that it's better than nothing.
SPEAKER_04So, what other kind of allergies do you see in the lifestyle?
SPEAKER_00So I guess lube would probably be the next lubricant common one.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, yes.
SPEAKER_00Lubricant is it in lube that's irritating people.
SPEAKER_02Well, it depends on which lubricant you're using. Um, a lot of the lubricants have all sorts of additives in them, and it's to make them um more slick or it's to um make them smell or taste better. Um, anything that says it smells good or tastes good, avoid putting that inside your vagina because that's likely to have the sensitivity to it. Um, even just like straight up regular water-based lubricants, because it's not just water, there's something slick in there. It depends on what it is that they put in to make it that way. You can have an allergy to that stuff. Um, usually what I recommend really is silicone-based lubricants, especially without additives in them. So like Uber lube is my favorite. Um, get it as we say, I get it shipped to the office. All it has in it is silicone and vitamin E, as it. Um, and vitamin E cannot, you can't be allergic to it because your body requires it. It's an absolute requirement for your uh bodily function. So yeah, vitamin E is actually a very nice natural vaginal moisturizer at baseline. And then um silicone, like I said before, is too large of a molecule for your body to absorb, so it's medically inert.
SPEAKER_04So what about coconut oil? I know a lot of people use that. I don't particularly care for it in my vagina, but I do know that it's it's something that I see people use.
SPEAKER_02I do not recommend it. Um, yeah, the American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynacologists doesn't recommend it. Uh, I was I went to a lecture one time, and they're like, Coconut oil belongs on salads, not in vaginas. Um yeah, the biggest problem with coconut oil is actually that it's got sugar in it. There's natural sugar in coconut oil, you know, and it'll say there's no sugars in it, but it's lying because coconut is a fruit. And even when you extract the oil and you try and pull as much sugar out as you can, um, putting oil up inside the vagina can cause problems, um, especially with like yeast and BV. So you put sugar inside the vagina, then you provide an environment that bacteria and yeast like to grow in. So um, not preferable. I know people are like, well, but it's natural. Um, yeah, so is cocaine, you know. Not a great thing.
SPEAKER_04Do a lot of people have issues with aloe vera? That's another one I do like. I do like the aloe vera, but I'm not very I'm not super sensitive. So stuff like that doesn't bother me.
SPEAKER_02Aloe vera is actually a pretty good one. Aloe vera is uncommon to be allergic to, highly uncommon. Um, is it possible? Yes. Again, you can always have some people that are allergic to it. But yeah, aloe vera-based lubricants are not necessarily bad either. It's another good kind of like oil already slick at baseline um lubricant. So yeah, that one, the other brand that I like that's a water-based lubricant is good clean love. Very hypoallergenic. Yeah, it comes in a little green container, hypoallergenic. My complaint about it is you know, being a little bit older, um old fart over here, the it it absorbs really fast. It's one of the reasons I like silicone is because it doesn't absorb into the vagina because it's too big to do so. So, like a couple squirts of Uber lube, and you're good for an entire few hours.
SPEAKER_04Honestly, Uber lube is my favorite. It's a little pricey, uh, but when I see somebody like pull out their bottle of Uber lube, I'm like, okay, yeah, they're they're serious. They're they for all the good stuff.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I think the two biggest ones we see in the lifestyle is the Premessin Aloebera lube and then Uber lube are probably the two. Yeah. Um, which is you know nice because I think again, it's so funny that you you think back prior to the lifestyle.
SPEAKER_04You know, if we were buying lube, it was probably like KY lube from which is funny because not long ago we went somewhere and Dan left like all of his stuff. We had to go buy condoms and lube, and we were like, I had to go to the grocery store, and so we got it from there, and we had to get like KY. We were like, Oh, this sucks. But I mean worked, it worked in a pinch, but yeah, we definitely once we get used to the good stuff, it's hard to go back to the good stuff.
SPEAKER_02I mean, it's like going from really nice shoes to crappy shoes and be like, um, this is gonna cause blisters, right?
SPEAKER_00Yeah, it's funny, yeah. Yeah, it's if anything, I think that's what I've learned is like there is such a thing as like bougie condoms and bougie loops wondering about Uber Lube.
SPEAKER_04It's U-B-E-R, and they sell it in a lot of the like nicer sex stores. I know like Secrets has it in theirs. Um, they have a website, you can get it there. It comes in a glass bottle. Oh, Amazon has it. It comes in a glass bottle, which I kind of like that's fine if you're like fucking at home next to your bed. But when you're traveling, I kind of wish they had like a plastic one for travel. They do have like they have sample, yeah. They do have some small some packets and smaller stuff, but uh and it is a little bit pricey, but it's definitely definitely good.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, next time we're on a cruise or something together, remind me to bring some Uber lube because they send me samples to my office every month. I oh it's lovely. Yeah, I they sent us some years ago.
SPEAKER_04Oh, that's good to know. Yeah, when we first started on like TikTok and stuff, they sent us like a like a PR package, but somehow we we haven't gotten back on that list. We need to because we love it. And we also love Promescent. We kind of use the two interchangeably, but they're very good.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I mean, honestly, if you're gonna if you're gonna have an issue with a lubricant, those are two of the ones that you're least likely to react to. So yeah, those are both good brands. And like I said, good queen loves another one that I like for water-based.
SPEAKER_00If you're going water-based, yeah, promesant sends us the samples, so we should pass those out at uh we always pass out the samples. That's the single use, which is kind of nice for an orgy or something like that.
SPEAKER_04We tend to like when we get the swag bags and stuff from like all these parties, we there's always samples in it, and we save those, and that's a lot of times what we bring to the playrooms, just because they're easier.
SPEAKER_00You just grab a sample, but my playroom bag is like a fanny pack. So trying to put a whole bottle of lube in there is a little too much, but little sample packs fit in there nicely.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. Yeah. I've kind of gotten to the point where I just take a bottle of Uber lube every time I go to somebody new's house and just leave it there.
SPEAKER_04Oh, well, you know, if you if you're on their PR list and you get a bunch of stuff, you can do that.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I'm not on the PR list. I'm just, you know, I'm a gynecologist who specializes in sex and I give it out to my patients. Um, I love that. I'm sure they would be absolutely thrilled to know that I also talk about it on podcasts.
SPEAKER_04That's awesome. Send them this podcast. Yeah, right. I should send them the link. Look, I advertise your product.
SPEAKER_00Okay, should we take a break and come back and talk about because I know there's uh some more Yeah, I think now's the perfect time to take a little break and hear from the partners and sponsors of the Swing Nation podcast. Uh, and then when we get back, I want to talk about maybe a little a few allergies that are a little more rare.
SPEAKER_04Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Uh and a little more dirty, I guess you could say.
SPEAKER_04It's a little hot. It's a little bit.
SPEAKER_00So we'll be right back, guys.
SPEAKER_05Okay.
SPEAKER_00Lacey, people are always asking, how do we get to a party or an event that you guys are hosting? Like, how do we find these things? Where did they exist?
SPEAKER_04Yeah, because we're pretty open about where we're gonna be. So if you want to find these places, you need to check out swingersight.net.
SPEAKER_00Right. So you can go to swingersight.net, sign up for a profile. Most of our friends, most of the people that are attend our events, all are on there and have profiles. So you can message them, link up with them before a party, get to know some people. Uh, please become a diamond member. Okay. So this is the way that we keep are able to throw events. There it's a way we're able to have staff. Uh, really, it's the the community that keeps those memberships on swingersciety.net that really keep this whole thing running.
SPEAKER_03Yes.
SPEAKER_00Um, if you're a diamond member, it gets you early access to tickets uh so you can get those VIP tickets in the clubs and you know those preferred rooms at a place like Secrets. Um, our diamond members usually grab all that up. So if that's something that you're interested in, you definitely want to become a diamond member, or if you just want to support us, support what we're doing, uh, and help us pay our staff, please go sign up and be a diamond member. Yes, it's super helpful for us. Uh, and you can do that by going to swingersociety.net.
SPEAKER_05Correct.
SPEAKER_00Uh, and sign up today. Hopefully, you come become part of our community, and we hope to see you at a future event.
SPEAKER_04Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Thanks, guys.
SPEAKER_04Dan, if someone is just recently joining the lifestyle and they don't really know where to begin, what do you recommend?
SPEAKER_00Well, the lifestyle, you know, it's 2025. And people are on the internet. They are. And there just so happens to be lifestyle websites that are dedicated to people connecting in the lifestyle. Yes. SDC happens to be one of our favorites. Over three million users. You can find people in your area, you can find clubs, you can find parties. All of it is right on SDC. Um, and you can get a huge discount by signing up with us.
SPEAKER_04You can.
SPEAKER_00So all you got to do is if you're looking for lifestyle people in your area, if you're looking for the clubs, if you're looking for the parties, go to theswing nation.info, recommended apps and products, scroll down to the SDC icon. We'll give you a free trial. Yeah. You can check them out. You can see who's in your area, you can see if it's uh if it's the app for you, uh, all completely risk-free. Yes. So just head on over to theswing nation.info and get signed up for STC today. Lacey? If you're gonna be a swinger, yeah, you need to be a responsible swinger.
SPEAKER_05I agree.
SPEAKER_00Uh, and part of being a responsible swinger is getting tested on a regular basis.
SPEAKER_05Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Now, something I didn't know is not all STI STD testing is the same.
SPEAKER_04That is correct.
SPEAKER_00Not every family doctor fully understands how you should be getting tested.
SPEAKER_04That is correct. What one doctor thinks is a full panel, another doctor may have a completely different version of that.
SPEAKER_00And being somebody in the lifestyle and engaging with multiple partners, um what you should be getting tested for is probably if you're not telling your doctor that, what you should be getting tested for is probably different than what they're thinking in their head.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, because they don't know your lifestyle, or or even if they do know your lifestyle, there's a like, for instance, there is a new one called MGen. And we just recently met a doctor at a lifestyle party and said that she had never even heard about it. And so she was awesome that we had educated her on that. So a lot of these doctors don't they don't know it all.
SPEAKER_00Right. So if you are going to participate in the lifestyle, you probably need to get tested from people that are meant to do this. Yes. Um, so we use I Know My Status. It's the same people behind talent testing who are the it's a company that tests all the porn stars. So they're used to testing people that um engage with multiple partners. They know all the latest on what STIs are you know coming up and and spreading, and they they track all the stats. I mean, they they know how to test people for STIs. They're the experts.
SPEAKER_04They are. And if someone that you engage with, you know, if they have used I know my status, they can actually give you a QR code and you can scan it and you can see their results right on your phone. So you can confirm everything that they're telling you.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, 100%. So please, if you're getting tested, get tested the right way. We recommend using I Know My Status. You can go to theswing nation.info, recommended apps and products, scroll down to the I Know My Status icon, and you can get a discount off your first test. Um, but please, if you're being uh if you're swinging, if you're engaging with the people in the community, please be safe about it. Go get tested.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, because we want you to fuck like a porn star.
SPEAKER_00For sure. All right, guys, welcome back, welcome back. Thank you for listening to our sponsors. We love our sponsors.
SPEAKER_05Thank you.
SPEAKER_00Okay, so before the break, we said we're gonna talk about some allergies that are not as common and a little dirtier. Um, and so one thing that does exist, there is such a thing as a cum allergy. Um so tell us about cum allergies, Dr. Stor. It sounds kind of terrible, actually. It does. Lacey probably wants terrible.
SPEAKER_04Going into the commercial, like maybe that should what I should tell people from now on. I'm allergic. I can't, I can't put your cum on me because I hate it. It's gross. I don't I don't want it on me.
SPEAKER_02I got my first facial the other day.
SPEAKER_04Oh wow.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, first facial? First? I've never had anybody come in my face before until just the other day. Yeah. Wow. Definitely unexpected. Well, I mean, it wasn't unexpected because he told me he wanted to give me one, and I was like, okay.
SPEAKER_00Are you do you not like it?
SPEAKER_02Is that why it was your first, or are you just no, nobody had ever asked to come on my face before? You would think in five years of the lifestyle, somebody would have said, Hey, I want to come on.
SPEAKER_04But like, yeah, not even not even your husband. No, and that's just not his thing, I'm assuming.
SPEAKER_02I I guess not. I I mean no, Reagan's got other fun things that um they didn't ask me like daily. Um like Reagan's just never never had any interest, I guess, in coming on my face. And uh of all of the men that I've ever slept with, I it maybe because of the breeding kink, I want them to come inside of me so that yeah it usually winds up just going elsewhere, yeah. Yeah, yeah, I don't know. I don't know. It's kind of funny. Okay, it was it was definitely an interesting experience. But yes, um, semen allergies are a thing. Yeah, it's it's uncommon and it is actually typically partner specific. So you can't just say I'm allergic to cum because you're probably only allergic to that person's cum. Um it does seem to be a partner-specific thing, it's probably something very specific to that person's um natural makeup, and you have an allergic reaction to something about their semen. Um, yeah, we don't know if there's like genetic issues or what associated with it, but the the time it really becomes a problem is when people are trying to get pregnant. And that's usually when we find these things because a lot of women will be like, Yeah, you know, I we've been having sex with a condom, or they, you know, they're they're finally having sex without a condom with a partner that they've been with for a while or whatever, and they're like, hey, you know, I'm starting to like get itchy every time we have sex. And when they say they don't wear a condom, then I start getting a little bit more worried. I'm like, okay, are we getting yeast infections or are we getting me from it? Or it usually semen allergies are legit allergic reactions. They act very much like latex allergies. Sometimes people can actually have anaphylaxis, like like peanut allergy type reactions. Um, it can be intense. Um, it you could probably go back. I'm sure there has been a semen allergy somewhere on sex, put me in the ER. Um yeah, I have seen like really bad, really bad reactions to semen allergies. The biggest problem, like I said, is really when people are trying to get pregnant, because how do you get pregnant if you can't put cum in your vagina, you know? And there are ways to do that. Usually it winds up with IVF, but um using a condom is actually the a number one thing to do to avoid getting um semen on you. But if you do get semen on you from whoever it is that you're allergic to, then it's yeah, it's a pred pack, it's steroids because those reactions were violent.
SPEAKER_04You know, that's funny because like when Dan and I first started dating, I was always like, maybe we're like I'm allergic to you because it felt like every time we would have like a lot of sex, because we've lived eight hours apart, so we would go like a week or two without any sex, and then we come together and we'd have like a ton of sex. I would always in like a UTI, and that was a joke that like I was allergic to him or something. Obviously, I'm not because we he comes in me all the time now, and I don't have that issue anymore. But so it kind of can present itself like a UTI, sort of.
SPEAKER_02Um, no, usually it's not like a UTI presentation. Okay, usually it's more like a latex allergy, like their entire vagina is on fire. Um, and like I said, sometimes we have patients, especially because they tend to be a little bit more violent reactions. Um, patients will be like short of breath, tongue swelling, like full-on anaphylaxis, breakout head to toe. It's yeah, it can be pretty impressive.
SPEAKER_00I wonder if anybody's ever died from that.
SPEAKER_02I'm sure they have.
SPEAKER_00That would be crazy. I don't know.
SPEAKER_04I've I mean, why is that impressive? No, I'm not saying it'd be crazy.
SPEAKER_00I didn't say it'd be impressive. Yeah, it'd be actually really sad.
SPEAKER_04Especially like if they were just trying to have a baby and they're like a loving couple, you know.
SPEAKER_00Right. Imagine you have some random like Tinder hookup and and it comes inside on you or in you and you have an allergic reaction.
SPEAKER_04And so if they come on you and you're allergic to it, is that I'm assuming that's a far less uh reaction just because it's like on the skin and not inside of you.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, kind of like the latex, it doesn't seem to cause quite as bad of a reaction, but it it can. Um if they come inside your mouth, that can cause just as violent a reaction as inside of your vagina.
SPEAKER_04Oh, could you imagine your throat? That would probably be really that'd probably be really rough.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_02Well, your throat can swell up and shut. I mean, if you have semen inside your mouth that you're allergic to. Yeah. Again, semen allergies are really uncommon, thank God. But when you have one, usually people figure it out fairly quickly with whichever partner it is. And then, you know, we we deal with it. We, you know, give them steroids to keep on hand.
SPEAKER_00Is there like you said it's individual? So is it like diet related or just DNA related?
SPEAKER_02Or you think it's DNA related. Um, there's actually not just a ton of data on it, but we think it's actually probably DNA related, something specific to the actual sperm and the makeup of the patient's um or the person's semen.
SPEAKER_00So if somebody has had that type of reaction before, what you if I'm hearing you right, you're it's not that they're allergic to everybody's cum, it's more likely they were just allergic to that person's cum.
SPEAKER_02It's most likely just that person's, yeah.
unknownWow.
SPEAKER_00Wow.
SPEAKER_04Or maybe they're brothers. Sorry.
SPEAKER_02That's cute.
SPEAKER_04It could be. I mean, I would say it's DNA, they might share something. I mean, not that I have a brother, brother fantasy or anything like that. Not at all. Not at all. All the brothers are gonna start messaging us now. Yeah, yeah, I don't know. Yeah, just unlocked some of them.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, again, it we think it's something to do very specifically with that. Um, I was actually just looking up to see if there's like any uh cases of people having died from it, and I can't find anything at this point, but um it's they think it's a specific immune response to proteins in the semen, which would be person-to-person specific.
SPEAKER_00Well, interesting.
SPEAKER_02So yeah, I've I know I've had patients in my office that had never had a semen allergy until their current husband, and then it was like yeah, that must be terrible.
SPEAKER_04That makes sense. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00All right, any other allergies that you can think of that people should be aware of?
SPEAKER_02Um, somebody okay, this is gonna sound like a sex related, I guess. Yeah, perfumes and lotions are very common allergies. So um, you know, if somebody if some guy's got lotion on his hands and he put his fingers inside your vagina, or if a woman's got, you know, perfume on and she goes down on another woman and the perfume is like anywhere near her face or her neck, that can cause an allergic reaction as well. So, you know, I usually recommend just avoiding anything that, you know, that has a lot of chemical in it around either your face, your vagina, or your on your hands. If you're gonna be going to a party. If you want to like do some body spray just so you smell good, that's fine. Just don't put it on your vulva and on your hands.
SPEAKER_04It's like a good idea just to rinse off. That's kind of like obviously when you go to a club, that's different. But like for the most part, if we're at something and there was like we can run to our room and shower, we tend to do that.
SPEAKER_00Hotel takeovers, bliss crews, you know, secret, sweaty. Yeah, usually before you go to an olgy, you want to go take a shower and rinse off. And I've always thought, well, that's just good hygiene because I want to not smell like sweat, but it sounds like it's it could be a good idea because I do usually spray body spray on me, but I don't usually like put a whole bunch of lotions or anything like that.
SPEAKER_04But that's really good to know. And even if someone's not allergic to it, they can still be very sensitive to it because I I'm pretty sensitive to smells, I don't like a whole lot of anything. So I if some guy walked in with a whole bunch of cologne or a whole bunch of aftershave, that that would probably like irritate me, like my eyes and stuff, even if I'm not actually allergic to it.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, and that's one of the things that I think a lot of people maybe mistake, you know, they're going for group sex and like, oh, I need to smell good. And they just put body spray or kind of a smelly lotion on. And then those of us in the room that are sensitive to smells or sensitive to the chemicals in those things, if sweaty bodies are up against each other, whoop, you're gonna have problems.
SPEAKER_04Maybe just like some deodorant and like a little spray, like yeah, one one little pump. One little spray, yeah. Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_02Just generally go on the low end. And a lot of people become nose blind to the scents that they wear fairly often, so they can't smell it as well. And so they put extra on thinking that they can't smell it, but everybody else can. So, you know, less less is more. Um, I just tend to avoid all of that stuff because I'm I'm kind of like you, super sensitive to to smell.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, I am, and which I'm probably pretty guilty of that because like anytime I go to the room, if I've like let's say we're a hotel takeover and I run to my room to use the restroom, I will put more deodorant on, I will spray more spray. So that's good to know and probably to be a little bit more considerate about because that's not something I guess I just like I don't want to smell, so I want to smell extra, extra good. So that's that's good to know.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, and I mean, I think that's what a lot of people are are like too. But I mean, like for me, I can't even go into Sephora because within seconds I'll have a headache.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_02Too much smell.
SPEAKER_04I have too many. I have a hard time too.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, yeah. Bath Body Works, all those places avoid like the plague just because of that. And I mean, honestly, even the deodorant I use, it's aluminum alum. That's it. It doesn't like it's not a normal deodorant. I use the crystal deodorants because I don't like the odor of deodorant on myself. And oddly enough, with the um the crystal deodorant, I Never have any body odor at all, which is bizarre. Yeah, it's and it's hypoallergenic again. I'm not like um I don't have an allergy to latex despite being in the medical field, surprisingly. Um, what I have an allergy to actually is the powder inside the latex gloves. So um I can't get the powdered gloves anymore and I can't use them in the operating room. But the actual latex itself I'm fine with, but I'm I'm uber sensitive to smell.
SPEAKER_04Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, it's definitely, definitely a thing. But same.
SPEAKER_05Oh yeah, is that it? Yeah.
unknownOkay.
SPEAKER_00Okay. So another thing when we talked uh on the this morning, we were texting back and forth.
SPEAKER_04Something you said that you've been getting asked because we knew this wasn't gonna probably take a full hour.
SPEAKER_00Right.
SPEAKER_04Yeah. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00So something else that you said you've been getting asked a lot about here recently um is vaginal or vaginal dryness. It's something that you said that has been coming up uh repeatedly, either in your office or just you know, people on Discord and stuff messaging you, asking you about. So uh in this last 20 minutes, you want to talk a little bit about that?
SPEAKER_02Yeah, sure. Honestly, vaginal dryness has been a huge topic. I think it's maybe partially because um, to some extent, my patient population is aging. A lot of them are around my age, like mid-40s, early 50s, and the like perimenopausal dryness is just getting to be a great frustration. Um, but there's lots of things that can cause vaginal dryness. We're talking like lots of things, everything from uh sexual aversions due to stuff like history of sexual trauma or sexual pain. You know, patients are like, you know, I used to be able to get turned on and I can't anymore, but sex has been hurting. And I'm like, well, that's that makes sense. Um, but even just like naturally dry vagina, even in young patients, it happens. Um, I started seeing fairly recently repetitive BV and yeast infections causing a lot of dryness. Um, and it I think it's probably in some of the literature at least hints to this when you're having chronic BV and yeast, especially if you're tossing back and forth, the antibiotics and antifungal medications that we're having to use to treat the infections and overgrowths and whatnot tend to cause vaginal dryness because we never get your pH back to normal. And so you keep, you know, bopping back and forth between the pH being too high and too low, and it never just kind of resets. So there's a couple of things for that. Um, one of my favorite treatments for vaginal dryness that's related to repetitive BV and yeast is boric acid suppositories. I can't remember if we've ever talked about those before, have we?
SPEAKER_00We've definitely talked about boric acid. I don't know about suppositories before.
SPEAKER_04I think we've like had a discussion here. I mean, I know what they are. I I know a lot of people in the lifestyle, but I think it's definitely worth mentioning because if I didn't know about those until I got into the lifestyle. So if someone is just joining or thinking about joining, I think this is a really good conversation to have.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. Boric acid is the perfect pH for the vagina. So if your pH is off, like you're just at the beginning of a yeast infection, or you've been having a lot of sex because um, again, vaginal reactions to things like condoms and semen and whatnot. Semen is not the right pH for vaginas. Um, and also, actually, at the time of your period, blood's not great for your vagina either. It has to come out somewhere, and that's where it comes out. But um the pH of blood is much more acidic than your natural pH of your vagina is supposed to be. Boric acid suppositories are like the perfect pH for the vagina, and I love them. Most of my patients that are lifestyle, and even a lot of my non-lifestyle patients that struggle with vaginal dryness, I'm like, you need to be using some boric acid suppositories.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Um, usually what I recommend is anytime that you start having symptoms, use them three nights in a row. Um, they look like tablets that you would take by mouth. Don't put them in your mouth, put them in your vagina.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, like when you go to sleep is typically when people do them, correct? Yep.
SPEAKER_02Yep, right before bedtime. Um, the capsule that they're in dissolves fairly quickly because it's water um soluble. And then the powder that's inside of it absorbs very quickly into the vagina. And it just kind of helps reset the vaginal pH to minimize the chance of overgrowth of stuff that you don't want in there. Um, and the way it helps with the vaginal moisture is really because resetting the pH puts your vagina in a place where the moisture is um available, shall we say?
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_02Getting dehydrated. Um, a lot of people don't necessarily think about it, but if your eyes and mouth and nose are dry, so is your vagina.
SPEAKER_04Which I mean, think about a playroom. Like, how many times are we dying of thirst? And and then off, and then as well, we are struggling, especially like if I've been drinking and dancing and then go into a playroom, that's usually when I struggle with dryness.
SPEAKER_02Yep, absolutely. Dehydration is a common cause. The way where vaginal, natural vaginal moisture comes from, little known fact, it is not from the skein's glands, it's not from your cervix, it's vagina sweat. So the vagina, when it gets when you get aroused, just like the penis, a bunch of blood flow goes to that area. That blood penetrates into the vaginal lining and then it swells. And basically the cells sweat into the vagina. So just like you know, your salivary glands in your mouth, the sides of the vagina literally sweat, and that is when natural lubrication is it's vagina sweat. So if you're dehydrated, you can't sweat. So making sure that you're drinking lots of fluids. I mean, my husband goes through gallons and gallons and gallons of water on the Bliss Cruise. He literally is constantly drinking water, you know, and he still gets dehydrated. So you know, lots of hydrated.
SPEAKER_04We should do better. We could do a lot. I know a lot of girls will do it like so they squirt more, like use electrolytes, but honestly, we should do it just so like our pajamas can keep up.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. So going back then to the boric acid, so can you use it too much? So if you're going on something like a Bliss cruise, like here's you be using it just every day, yeah.
SPEAKER_02You can use it daily, like leading up to the Bliss cruise or I wouldn't necessarily use it leading up to the Bliss Cruise, probably not necessary unless you feel like maybe you're about to get BV or you're starting a yeast infection or something. But yeah, you can use it daily for a while. I wouldn't use it daily all the time because eventually it may start causing some irritation as well. Um, but yeah, the usually my like I said, my patients that struggle with recurrent BV or yeast and like three, you know, three nights in a row for any time that you feel it, and then just at least once or twice a week, period. Yeah, Monday and Thursday.
SPEAKER_04You can buy it like at CVS, Walgreens, Walmart, Amazon. Like it's very readily available. So like it you could be like at secrets and run to CVS and get some, or or again, like I usually bring mine with me when I know I'm gonna be at somewhere quite a lot. I'm gonna be honest, I don't like the way the peels feel in my vagina. I can feel them. It freaks me out. They do sell like a liquid form that you like, it's almost like a douche bottle kind of. It's the same brand, it's boric acid, and you just kind of like I do that one instead because for some reason I can feel that peel. I'm like laying there trying to fall asleep, and I can feel it, and it feels, I don't know, it freaks me out. Uh, I wish that I could use the I it's like a texture, like a I don't know, a sensory issue for me, but I do use the same brand. Uh, they do that liquid one. And so I do I will use that. And I kind of do sort of the same thing. I'll, you know, like if I'm going on a bliss cruise, I'll probably do that, you know, two to three times throughout the week, like right before bed. So I go to bed with everything like really clean and good, and and I start the next day fresh. And it kind of it makes I don't know if it's doing anything, but it makes me feel good. So it is doing something.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, it really does help. Um, yeah, they the liquid form, a lot of people don't like it as much because it's messier, but it absolutely works. Yeah, I love the pill. You can put water-based lubricant on the pill to put it up inside of a jacket. Maybe not feeling it.
SPEAKER_04I probably should do that because usually when I'm using the pill, we've been fucking all day. I'm exhausted, I'm dehydrated, you know. So, like shoving that pill in my vagina, and then I'm laying in the bed, like the rim spinning, probably, and I'm like, I can feel that in there. But that's actually a really good idea. And I will, I have plenty of the regular, you know, ones. I'll I'll try that next time.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, the water-based lubricants, they make it go up and easier. And it, I mean, it's kind of like putting a dry tampon in a dry vagina.
SPEAKER_04Yes, that's exactly that's exactly how I feel. And I'm like laying there and I'm like, okay, is it gonna, you know, and then I'm like overthinking it and stuff. But the liquid ones work for me. I just a little TMI, I just do them on the toilets, so I don't really have an issue with it making a mess. I just I keep them next to the toilet, you know, do them not, you know, do them a couple times a week, and then I'm good. But like at home in normal life, I don't usually do much unless I have some symptoms, but yeah, for sure.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, but yeah, you can use it really regularly throughout, you know, if you're doing it on the bliss cruise, you can use it daily, it's not gonna hurt anything for sure. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, it's definitely something that I think Lacey's taken a little while to kind of figure out what works for her body, but you know, it's not uncommon if you go on a bliss cruise or something like keto for the first time, you know, pools and ocean and fingers and condoms and mouths and like it it can uh do a quite a number on somebody.
SPEAKER_04If we're just talking about dryness, just dryness alone, by the time the end of that week, after being in the ocean and like all the different waters and all I'm like she is she's done, she is dry, she is it it's close for business, you know. Like, I need a few days to kind of just let everything reset.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, same bliss cruise that usually hits like Thursday or Friday, and I'm like, yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_04Yeah. So I think like anybody that's listening this that is thinking about doing the last cell or has like a big because like when you pay thousands of dollars to go on these like really nice, fancy trips, the last thing you want is your vagina to not work, you know, or you have an allergy or something like this. So kind of learn from us and learn from other people because this is how we've kind of figured out what we need to bring and what we need to have. And even something like secrets. I can remember pulling out of secrets and being like, you have to take me to CBS right now. I'm dying. So, like just having that stuff with you and like in a little emergency kit is has been like the biggest lifesaver for me is as far as figuring all of these things out.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, and I think the second thing for you, other than the boric acid thing, is probably using more lubricant when you actually have sex.
SPEAKER_04I think it's a bit something that in the past we've been bad about is you know, you go to a playroom and you don't bring lube with you, and it's just which is fine if you're gonna be there one night, but if you're in there four or five times in a week because you're on a long by that third, fourth you need it. So you almost have to pre-plann for the dryness that you're gonna have.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, and honestly, I would highly suggest. I mean, lubricant is good. Uh use it every time you have sex. I mean, there's there's some people that just naturally make lots and lots of natural lubricant, and that's great. Um, and for those few people out there, I'm proud of you. The rest of us, I mean, Regan and I use lube every time we have sex, and it's not necessarily because I need it, it just makes things easier. Yeah. And I would encourage worry if I'm gonna get dry during sex, you know.
SPEAKER_04And I would encourage ladies to like use your voice. Like, even if you and your spouse don't really use a lot of lubricant in a play situation, it's okay to stop the guy and be like, hey, can you grab some lube? You know, like it's it's okay to do that.
SPEAKER_00It's not because you're not turned on or yeah, what it also seems like condoms dry things out more than not using condoms.
SPEAKER_04So I think it's okay. And guys, it's okay to like put a little on before you find it. You know, yeah, just uh you know, just to be nice. Like you'll probably have a a longer, better time. Is that is that that was not proper English, but you know what I mean?
SPEAKER_00It'll make it more enjoyable for everybody, yeah.
SPEAKER_02For sure. Yeah, yeah. I mean, uh I I use lubricant with abandoned, just you know, squirt that stuff everywhere. It's great.
SPEAKER_04Okay, but sometimes you can get too much lube.
SPEAKER_02Oh, well, yeah. I mean, you get to the point where you can't feel anything, you're like, what was this?
SPEAKER_04Yes, yeah. Some get especially like when you're like there's a lot going on and the guys are like squirt, squirt, squirt, squirt, squirt. I'm like, okay, too much. She, you know, be be cautious of that.
SPEAKER_00Better too much than not enough. For sure, always.
SPEAKER_02But I'm just saying, I would always hedge on the side of yeah, more lube than less. But yeah, no, I mean, you don't also want to only be able to feel the lubricant and be like, I don't know where the penis went, it's just slippery.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, that's not fun either.
SPEAKER_02That's not, yeah, yeah. Okay. So um, yeah, other stuff for dry vagina around perimenopause. Obviously, ask your doctor if you are a candidate for some type of vaginal, um, either estrogen, pre-estrogen, or um, there's there's even like over-the-counters. Um there's a a couple of different DHEA suppositories that can be used. Um, yeah, there's all sorts of fun stuff out there.
SPEAKER_04I wish I could think there was a brand that we had, and they sell these suppositories that are made for um like to lube the vagina, like you put it in and it keeps your vagina like lubed up at 24 hours. They sell it at like Ulta, they sell it at CVS. What's the name of it? Oh, it's gonna drive me crazy. But it actually was very nice. I actually really enjoyed it. It just kind of made it, it just made everything a little bit more moisturized, you know. And it so there definitely are things over the counter that you can you can find.
SPEAKER_02I think one of the best ones, um, it you can buy there's two different strengths of it. It's called Jolva, J-U-L-V-C.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, I think that's Jolva.
SPEAKER_02Um, it was actually created by a gynecologist, um, fantastic, Dr. Kabecka. She um, yeah, so it's DHEA, which is a precursor for testosterone and estrogen um with a couple of natural moisturizers. Oddly enough, the slippery part of coconut oil is in there um without any of the sugar in it. Um, so there's, you know, there's several different things inside of it, but it is fantastic for vulva and vagina. Actually, it has been shown to reduce um UTIs and that kind of stuff in patients. So that one's a nice one just to, you know, it's kind of like the consistency of hand lotion. You just put it on the vulva, you know, once or twice a day, small pea-sized amount, um, great vaginal vulvar moisturizer. There's two different strengths of it, the over-the-counter strength, and then the higher dose strength you can only get in doctors' offices, but it has four times the amount of DHEA in it. So it works better. Um, and then there's actually a suppository that's prescription that's DHEA. It's called Intrarosa. It's not back box warning for um patients with a history of cancer, like breast cancer or uterine cancer. So it's one of the ones that we use fairly often in patients with a history of a hormone-sensitive cancer. So that one, that one's quite safe. Um, but then yeah, actually, even just vaginal estrogen is uber helpful in in patients, especially that are peri-impostmenopausal, that are getting vaginal joinus because of a lack of estrogen. Vaginas are very greedy for estrogen. You put something with estrogen in the vagina, it will absorb it into the vagina and keep it there. Almost none of it gets into the bloodstream.
SPEAKER_04The brand I was talking about is called For F O R I A. Yeah, Foria.
SPEAKER_02That's another one.
SPEAKER_04Okay, yeah. And so it's the intimacy melts, and they actually have CBD in them. They have once of C B D. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. And it's probably you just put it in and it just helps things stay moisturized. I used um the last time I used them was like ad HETO when I knew that like there was just gonna be a lot going on. So I I actually really enjoyed them. And it looks like oh, they even have like relief melts. I'm just on Sephora, I'm not Sephora Ulta's websites. Uh, so that's kind of cool. It's relief. Oh, yeah, from menstrual or pelvic discomforts. They've got like a whole line, they've got some lubes and you know all kinds of stuff. But I really did like those, those melts for like times when you know you're gonna be like super active and have a lot going on down there.
SPEAKER_02Yep, yeah, they've got all sorts of interesting stuff at Fourier. It's actually a fairly good company. I haven't picked through the actual stuff that's in their products recently. Yeah. You go back and look and make sure most of it's okay. But um, it is a brand I know that some of my friends that are gynecologists also recommend. So it's probably pretty legit.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, we tried it, and then I just happened to be an Ulta one day, and I was like, that's really cool that like Ulta selling something like that. You could just go pick it up, read the labels, you don't have to order it. So I thought that was cool. And that it's F-O-R-I-A. If anybody wants to like look that up.
SPEAKER_00Okay. All right. Well, anything else for the swing nation listeners as far as allergies or um dryness goes.
