Tuesday Talks: What to Wear for Splash Atlanta| Episode 115

On this week’s Tuesday Talks, a listener writes in with a question many Splash Atlanta attendees are probably asking: what exactly are we supposed to wear for Eroticon? With each themed night described a little differently, Dan and Lacy break down the dress codes in a way that makes them easier to understand—and a lot less intimidating.

Lacy shares her interpretation of each theme, ideas for putting together an outfit, and ways to participate whether you want to go all out or keep it simple. Then Dan and Lacy reveal what they’re planning to wear themselves, how they approach themed events, and why the best outfit is always the one that makes you feel confident, comfortable, and ready to have fun.

SPEAKER_00

Just do your questions. Tuesday talk. Tuesday talk.

SPEAKER_02

Talking Tuesday with Dan and Lacey. Ooh. How about that high note?

SPEAKER_01

That's perfect. Hey there, pineapple people, and welcome to the Swing Nation podcast. We are your host, Northern Guy.

SPEAKER_02

And Southern Girl.

SPEAKER_01

And we are back with another rendition of Tuesday Talks.

SPEAKER_02

We are. Talking Tuesdays with Doug and Wacy. Our good friend Sean made us a Doug and Wacey cup and mailed it to our house.

SPEAKER_01

How much Doug and Wacy has caught on with people when we go out places and see podcast listeners.

SPEAKER_02

It's like a conversation starter. Like it's hilarious.

SPEAKER_01

People shout Doug and Wacey at us as we walk past them.

SPEAKER_02

It's funny.

SPEAKER_01

Um people come up to us and say, Hi, Doug and Wacy. Uh, it has become its own thing. It has. Which is funny because it's just us bullshitting on a microphone.

SPEAKER_02

That's why you shouldn't give us a microphone. You shouldn't give random people a microphone.

SPEAKER_01

The things that you guys latch on to is always interesting.

SPEAKER_02

It's very interesting.

SPEAKER_01

It makes me want to keep doing it, like come up with something else that they can.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, no, I agree. Okay, so I picked today's Tuesday talk. We have gotten uh okay, so just like putting this out there, um, there is a gentleman that keeps calling the phone multiple times a day. Uh, we're gonna give you a phone number at the end of this episode. It is for Tuesday talk questions. It is not really um like to hook your wife up or to tell you where to get. Like, I think people think that we really monitor it. We don't.

SPEAKER_00

Oh, yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Um, it's it's the some of the shit we get, y'all is wild.

SPEAKER_01

Can we do a Tuesday talk? Or maybe that would be mean. If we were just read some of the random, like you know, like you ever seen that what's that the mean tweets like thing they do?

SPEAKER_02

Like somebody called 10 times in like one day and a half and left all those voicemails.

SPEAKER_01

And they're like, his wife?

SPEAKER_02

Well, he didn't say that. He's like, I'm trying to get my wife hooked up. Like, what do I need to do? Or like, is there and then he called another time's like, is there anything going on tonight? I'm like, it's a fucking Monday, we're at home, dude.

SPEAKER_01

You don't even know where we live in the country.

SPEAKER_02

You don't even know where we live in the country, and then like the phone number is a Texas number. And so people are like, I see you're from Texas, I'm in Texas too. I'm like, no, no, yeah, like this is not our local number. Anyway, if you have a Tuesday talk question, please feel free to send it. And like sometimes people will ask us, like after last week's our HEDO, we had somebody ask about like transportation. I was able to respond to them. So if you need something, I I will try to get back with you. But this is by no means like a hookup line or a um but that doesn't mean don't send me booby pictures, because I mean I still want to see those.

SPEAKER_01

But um, yes, if you're actually trying to hook up with me and Laf C in real life, um, that's probably not going to happen unless we meet you at an event, get to know you. We also don't become comfortable with you, trust you, share STI testing information.

SPEAKER_02

Um calling us 10 times on a Monday night's not gonna do it. But we love y'all and we appreciate all your support.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. This is, I mean, these are good problems to have. Yeah, great problems.

SPEAKER_02

But just I don't want people to get their feelings hurt when we don't respond.

SPEAKER_01

Correct.

SPEAKER_02

Correct. So I'm just putting that out there. Yeah. Okay. So anyway, on the bright side today's Tuesday talk, Dan and Lacey. We are seven months into the lifestyle and loving it. We just signed up for our big lifestyle event, Eroticon in Atlanta. We have no clue what to wear to this. Please help. They posted the theme for each night, and it's basically word salad paragraph that doesn't really tell us what to wear. If you know, you know. That's hilarious that he said that. Sorry, he didn't say that. I just I'm adding there. Sorry. Dressing for lifestyle dates or meet and greets is easy. Dressing sexy for trapeze, which we do regularly now. We've got down 100%. This event, no clue. For her, I can tell if she goes with sexy trap dress with a theme color, sexy lingerie with theme color, or what I guess is considered rave attire, which to me just seems like a really bright lingerie. For me, it seems like my choices are boxers and try to be comfortable with my figure or some bright looking tank top and shorts. Which so that's his question. And they're cute, they're a very cute couple. He could totally rock a tank top and some shorts. But um, so that's his question. So he sent some pictures and other things, so I'll I'll keep that private. But but basically, he's like, What the hell do I wear? So if you don't know, it's Splash Atlanta. They've kind of rebranded a little, so it's called Eroticon.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, so Splash used to be Splash Houston, Splash Fort Lauderdale, Splas Um Atlanta. So now each event, and I'm not even gonna guess at which names are because I would fuck it up. It's a little confusing, but they have named each party a thing. And so Splash Atlanta is now called Eroticon, and then one of them's called some. I don't even remember what they're doing. I don't know.

SPEAKER_02

It's honestly if you will if they ask my opinion, I think it's too much. I think it's too much. Like people that have been to Splash, just like, hey, what is this iroticon thing? I'm like, it's splash, yeah.

SPEAKER_01

And Splash has such a good brand and a good reputation that I think them changing it to the party names has confused people. It has, it's now it is eroticon like brought to you by Splash or something. So I mean it's still their their label is still there, but it it has confused many people.

SPEAKER_02

Yes, but so putting that out there, if you're hearing us talking about it, just to clear that up. As far as themes go for Splash, if you have listened to the podcast for any amount of time, I say every single event, splashes themes are they're way too much. It's it's too much. It's like we're it's like word vomit. Like it's they throw a bunch of words together, and then you have to decipher it. I feel like we usually get it wrong. I I I do my best to try.

SPEAKER_01

Lacey has we have been wearing different clothes than everybody else more than once at a splash event.

SPEAKER_02

Uh so take my advice with a grain of salt. I did, I for just for transparency, I do not know the themes. I have not started working on my outfits, but I did Google it and I do have it pulled up so we could read it together. Okay. So this is me as someone who has historically got them wrong trying to help someone that is asking. So take my advice with a grain of salt.

SPEAKER_01

Should we, before you talk about the specific themes, should we talk generically about because they said they know how to drap dress for trapeze, but they don't know how to dress for a splash. Let's just talk very loosely about maybe some of the differences in that.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, I mean, so I want to comment on that, but the truth is is I don't know that I have the proper like, for instance, like he asked rave wear. I think a lot of hotels, um, hotel takeovers are now kind of going more towards that like rave type wear. However, we went to Splash Fort Lauderdale last year, and it is a higher class of like people. So, and like a little bit older than we are, probably average age, like 60s. And like most everyone, like the women had dresses and heels on, and that's not really what I thought. I wore more rave wear. Right. So I don't really know that there is a standard answer to that. I think it really depends on where you go in the country and what what the themes are and all of that. Let me just say this: this would be my advice. It really doesn't fucking matter what you wear. That would be my advice. Okay, but the truth is we showed up in rave wear and everybody else had dresses on, and we were totally fine. Yeah, nobody was like, why do you have those shorts on? Nobody cared. It's very free. You wear the outfit for an hour or two, and then you usually change into lingerie. So as much as I I love picking outfits and it's fun for me, don't overthink it. It's gonna be okay regardless.

SPEAKER_01

Yes. But I'll let you do whatever you think you well no, so I was gonna say from personal experience, I do feel like Splash Houston, what we just left from, was more raveware. Yeah, right. Splash Atlanta, which we've been to several times, has always been more rave wear. Yeah. Splash Fort Lauderdale was when we experienced it the last time, what you were saying more club, what I would call clubware, which is more of like a trapeze traffic. So that's the the dresses, the heels, the you know, the you know, men in slacks and button-ups was our last experience. That doesn't mean Splash Fort Lauderdale this year won't stray more into the rave wear. What we have noticed is the 40 and up crowd, maybe even the 45, 50 and up crowd, you tend to wear more club wear type clothes, and the 40 and below or maybe 50 below crowd tend to wear more rave wear type clothes to hotel takeovers. Now, if you talk about clubs, some of these clubs have some clubs have actual dress attire where you have to wear clubwear, which would be heels and shoes and button-ups and things like that. So, you know, but just talking about Splash, it seemed to me that Splash Houston and Splash Atlanta are more the ravewear type clothes, and splash Fort Lauderdale was more the clubware type clothes, just from personal experience.

SPEAKER_02

Correct. Okay, so let's jump into these. I'm going to read these and you're gonna know what he says about word salad. Okay, so Thursday night is called Ruby Red. What is this word? I don't even know what the word is. Renoves? Renovade.

SPEAKER_01

I don't know. It's almost like rendezvous, but it's not. It's Ron Rendezvous. I don't even know what that word is.

SPEAKER_02

Okay, I'll spell it. Okay, so Thursday night is you may spell it and you can Ruby Red, and it's R-E-N-D-E-Z V-O-U-S. Did you get that? Okay, so this is the description. Scarlet silk spells.

SPEAKER_01

Rendezvous. That's not see, I don't even know how to spell rendezvous, because that's rendezvous, which is a meeting at a set time and place.

SPEAKER_02

Okay, Ruby Red Rendezvous. That does not look like rendezvous spelling, but I guess I've never spelt it, so maybe we're sure.

SPEAKER_01

I'm a terrible speller and not the best reader. I'm not, you know, super literate. Uh, you know, I don't read a lot of books. Yeah. You do. Well, you leave you read audio audiobooks, but rendezvous, yeah. Yeah, okay.

SPEAKER_02

Scarlet silk spills over collarbones like fresh blood looking for a pulse. Crimson lace grips skin so tightly it leaves marks you'll wear as souvenirs tomorrow. Ruby red leather sighs and creaks with every breath, every shift of a hip, lips lacquered with precise shade of scarlet. You're going to moan into someone's mouth before the night ends. Come dress to confess, come dressed to be forgiven. Come dress to burn the room down and how little you're wearing. So um, in the picture, they the guy has a red leather jacket on and the girl has a red leather dress on. Um, I personally, this screams like red BDSM to me.

SPEAKER_01

Yes, that's what I hear, but you didn't you say glitter in there somewhere? I thought I heard you say glitter or lace or something in there somewhere.

SPEAKER_02

I I didn't. I said yeah, I didn't say glitter.

SPEAKER_01

So red leather. Yeah, red leather. Red fetish seems to be. That's what I think. But honestly, red, right? If you have red on, you are good.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, so you could do a red dress or maybe like a red leather dress. You could do red leather lingerie.

SPEAKER_01

So I'm saying what I'm not wearing is red leather anything.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, because it's good, it's splash the hotel takeovers are historically warm, you know? So like red leather booty shorts, red latex, um anything red strappy. I think anything like that, you're probably good. Um, I will say that in my opinion, splash, you typically wear your outfits for till about midnight, and then most everybody changes to lingerie. Yeah. I know not all hotel takeovers do with that, it just kind of depends on where you are. So if this was me, um I would wear some sort of red dress and then maybe change into lingerie. Or if you don't want to change, just find some badass red lingerie, like some let like like a BDSM leather, like straps, buckles. That would be me. For the female, for Dan, I would probably buy him red shorts and a tank top. And I know you're like, should I just Dan's not always been the most confident with being like shirtless. Uh-huh. So a lot of times he will, I'll, you know, I'll get him something that might be sheer or might have, you know, yeah.

SPEAKER_01

See, I was thinking the opposite, like a red tank top and black shorts or something.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, you could do that. Yeah. Any version of that. But on the flip side, if you want to wear like jeans and a red shirt, that's totally fine too. And honestly, will be totally acceptable, in my opinion. So I think Splash does have a huge variety. So I think you're gonna see all of those things, especially at this splash.

SPEAKER_01

So, so if you don't know Eroticon, you know, it used to be Splash Atlanta, now it's Eroticon. And the biggest difference this year is they're moving into a much larger hotel. So it went from like a 250-room hotel to like a 650-room hotel. So there's gonna be two or three times as many people there this year as there has been in the past. Uh, so I would guess you're gonna see a very wide variety of ages, and I would guess younger generation is gonna be wearing rave stuff. The as you get older, they're gonna be wearing more traditional club wear. Yeah. Uh, so either way that you go, I I don't think you could be wrong. So, you know, the club, if you're a male asking this question, the club there, the the uh ravey wear would be some kind of booty shorts and some kind of tank top.

SPEAKER_02

But you could even wear like cargo, like the kind of short Stan has on right now if you're on YouTube, like just regular shorts with like a red button up. Maybe then like as the night goes on, you can unbutton it so you get some air. You know, it doesn't, it doesn't have to be booty shorts. Stan definitely worked his way up to that. It wasn't something.

SPEAKER_01

And if you're even more extreme, you could be in a red thong. Yeah, there's gonna be some guys wearing that. Uh and that's perfectly okay.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah. Okay, so Friday is blue sapphire electric elegance. Royal blue light doesn't wash the room, it drowns it. Sapphire silk, velvet, and satin slide over skin like liquid night. Catching the strobes and fracturing into electric fire, royal blue light drowns the room like deep water. Sapphire fabrics and gems pour over bar bear skin. That guy's calling again.

SPEAKER_01

Keep going.

SPEAKER_02

Sorry. Royal blue light drowns the room like deep water. Sapphire fabrics and gems pour over bear skin. Turning every guest into lightning facet, polished, priceless, and begging to be touched. Should I read that again?

SPEAKER_01

No, you I don't think you need to.

SPEAKER_02

That was terrible. I don't even know what the fuck that said. And then the picture, blue, sapphire, electric elegance. The girl has blue lingerie on. Honestly, I don't know what the fuck that says.

SPEAKER_01

It's blue. It's blue. It's blue. It and like there seem to be a lot of shiny blue like undertones there, right?

SPEAKER_02

So I think if you word like silk, velvet, satin, right.

SPEAKER_01

Sapphire is a like a diamond, isn't it? Or a ruby or whatever gem. So like shiny blue, maybe you could get out of that. Um, but I think again, where for uh Thursday was red, this is blue.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah. Where I think Thursday is more like leather. I feel like Friday is whatever shiny. No, it's like silk, velvet, satin type of thing. Okay. Yeah. So again, exactly what we said for Friday. The girl in the picture has blue lingerie on. Get some cool blue lingerie, blue dress, change, guys, same thing. Whatever version you want to wear. If you want to wear jeans and a blue button up, start there.

SPEAKER_01

Blue silk, like PJs almost like that'd be kind of cool.

SPEAKER_02

So pajamas would be cool for guys and and and not hot. So that's that's a really good one. Okay. Saturday, white diamonds, neon inferior.

SPEAKER_01

Inferno, inferno, so it's basically the same thing as Friday, but white.

SPEAKER_02

But neon. Okay, so let's read it. Plunge into the sultry heart of the vault's deepest secret. White diamonds ignite the instant black lights flood the room and neon lasers rake across bear skin.

SPEAKER_01

It's white glow.

SPEAKER_02

Pristine flawless diamonds clash and electric neon pulses in an afterdark explosion of forbidden glamour. Diamonds drip from the earlobes to collarbones, cluster where a pulse beats too close to the surface, scatter across hips in the small of the back. What reads is flawless ice in daylight now erupts into electric cobalt, acid lime, screaming magenta, toxic pink fire, white attire, and diamonds glow blindingly, blindly bright, like shattered ice frozen on skin. While neon accents slashed through the ultraviolet haze, the night just flipped ultraviolet and never looked back.

SPEAKER_01

I got white glow vibes out of that. I don't know, I don't know if that's true, but then you said a bunch about you said sapphire and magenta in there, which threw me off.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, so the guy in the picture has solid white on, a shirt, a t-shirt, and like white jeans, and the girl has on some sort of like neon lingerie.

SPEAKER_01

Neon like colorful?

SPEAKER_02

Yeah. I think it's good, and it it's called neon inferno. So I think it's a glow party with like with white, and then maybe accent it with neon. So like maybe like a white, like for a girl, like a white bodysuit, but then maybe pair it with like bright color fishnets and some bright color earrings to make them glow. That would be like it's gonna be a glow party. Everybody's just gonna wear glow shit. That's the truth.

SPEAKER_01

But white glow, that's what I got out of that.

SPEAKER_02

White glow with neon accessories.

SPEAKER_01

That was but that is a lot of that is a lot of words. Now, I will say we are getting dangerously close to this with electric blades.

SPEAKER_02

We are, we are and I am like always like, guys, this is too many words. We need to back it off.

SPEAKER_01

This is AI problems. Yeah, this is what's AI problems. This is AI is notoriously bad about using way too much adjectives and being way too descriptive, overly descriptive. Yeah. Uh, and that's what's happening here is you might say, give me a uh, you know, you're it chat GPT and give me a write-up for a white glow party, and this is yeah, what it's saying. It's just spitting out a bunch of words.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, so that would be my advice for all of those. I do, I I want to say again, just wear what you feel comfortable with. Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Now I do like how in Electric Pleasures we are doing like this dress the vibe, yeah, which kind of just spells it out for you a little more detailed. Like, but even then, I you know, I I feel like with Electric Pleasures, we were trying to pick one color, and several times that has turned into like three or four colors. And it's like, no, I thought it was supposed to just be one color. It's hard.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, you know, we we do give splash shit publicly about this, but the truth is is we are also guilty of it. It's a very easily slippery slope. So we like we also relate to it at the same time.

SPEAKER_01

Splash is interesting because I feel like in some ways, like this Splash Atlanta feels very much like Electric Pleasures type of where they're just kind of picking a color and letting you kind of run with it.

SPEAKER_02

Which I personally like that. You know, I think just tell me a color to wear, I can do that. And I don't even mind like red with like BDSM vibes. I don't even mind that really, you know. So uh I think it's a lot of words, you just kind of have to find the words. Now, again, I have been wrong. So if you show up with white we have swung and missed on this. If you've shown up in white, just know I'll be there with white on too.

SPEAKER_01

So uh we'll be we can take a picture together because we could be the only one, everybody else might just be wearing bright neon colors.

SPEAKER_02

But the truth is it doesn't matter. Yeah, that's that's really what it's about. It doesn't really matter. Everybody, um everybody, everybody has struggles with it, so you're not alone.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, no, that well, that's yeah. I don't know. I don't know if what's worse is like that, you know, like this color with all this elaborate, you know, words around it, or or the you know, be a superhero or a villain or uh, you know. I almost feel like those are easier than this color thing.

SPEAKER_02

But themes are hard, yeah.

SPEAKER_01

They're hard. Uh okay. Anything else about themes?

SPEAKER_02

And if you wondered why I said that guy's calling in, the guy that I told y'all called 10 times just called again while I was reading that.

SPEAKER_01

Oh man.

SPEAKER_02

Uh less is hard. He just wants to get his wife fucked, you know. Most guys have been there.

SPEAKER_01

For Splash Atlanta specifically, we're gonna be it's gonna be a clothing optional pool party during the day. Then you're probably gonna go into either rave wear or clubware at night. And then, like Lacey said, somewhere around midnight, a lot of people will change into lingerie and kind of meander their way into the play spaces. Yeah. So that kind of gives you an idea of the flow. Uh, it is clothing optional at the pool. So if you want to wear a one-piece bathing suit, if you want to wear a two-piece bathing suit, that's completely fine. Uh, if you want to be just topless, if you want to be completely naked, all of those things are fine at a splash event. Uh, Lacey usually does like a G string thong and uh topless is usually her pool labs.

SPEAKER_02

I like tan line, so I like wearing a bathing suit.

SPEAKER_01

You have been wearing a uh that what's that brand that you've been bikini addicted. You've been wearing full top and bottoms to a lot of.

SPEAKER_02

I I like I like a good ensemble. So I like wearing wearing a bikini.

SPEAKER_01

Uh, but I hope that helps sort out splash um where what to wear to splash, as well as maybe some advice on generally what to wear to other events as well. That is a question that comes up quite often. Yes. All right, anything else for the Swing Nation listeners?

SPEAKER_02
